Terms of Service

These terms set out the agreement between you and Scam SafeGuard when you use our extension and service. We've kept them as plain as we can.

Effective date: 9 June 2026 · Last updated: 9 June 2026
A note on this draft: These terms are published so you can read them before you install, and are being reviewed by a legal professional. Material changes will be dated at the top of this page.

1. Agreement to these terms

By installing or using Scam SafeGuard, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. The service is operated by [LEGAL NAME] (ABN [ABN]), an independent developer based in Australia.

2. What Scam SafeGuard is

Scam SafeGuard is a browser extension and supporting service that checks web addresses and messages for signs of scams and phishing, and warns you about risky sites. It uses threat databases, domain checks, and AI-assisted analysis to assess risk in real time.

3. Important: what we can and can't promise

Scam SafeGuard reduces your risk. It cannot guarantee to catch every scam.

Scams change constantly, and no security tool — ours or anyone else's — can detect 100% of threats. Scam SafeGuard is one layer of protection, not a guarantee of safety. You remain responsible for your own decisions online, including whether to enter personal or financial information on any website.

You should not rely on Scam SafeGuard as your only safeguard. Keep using good judgement, keep your devices and software up to date, and treat unexpected requests for money or personal details with caution — even if we haven't flagged them.

Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be excluded.

4. Who can use it

You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent where you live) to use Scam SafeGuard. By using it, you confirm you meet this requirement and that any information you give us is accurate.

5. Plans, billing, and renewals

Scam SafeGuard offers a free plan and paid plans (Premium and Family). Paid plans are billed through our payment provider, Paddle, who acts as the Merchant of Record for your purchase. Paddle's terms also apply to the payment itself.

6. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account or by contacting us. When you cancel, you'll keep access until the end of your current billing period.

We offer a full refund within 30 days of your purchase — no questions asked. To request one, contact us at [SUPPORT EMAIL]. Refunds are processed through Paddle. This is in addition to any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.

7. Acceptable use

When using Scam SafeGuard, you agree not to:

8. Our intellectual property

Scam SafeGuard, including its software, branding, and content, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the service for its intended purpose. You don't acquire any ownership rights by using it.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Scam SafeGuard is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will detect or prevent all scams or threats.

Some jurisdictions, including under the Australian Consumer Law, imply guarantees that cannot be excluded. Where that applies, our liability is limited as set out below, and nothing here excludes those non-excludable rights.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service — including any loss resulting from a scam or threat we did not detect.

Where liability cannot be fully excluded, our total liability to you for any claim is limited, at our option, to re-supplying the service or refunding the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the service or your breach of these terms, to the extent permitted by law.

12. Suspension and termination

You can stop using Scam SafeGuard and uninstall it at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, misuse the service, or where we reasonably need to (for example, for security or legal reasons). If we end a paid plan other than for your breach, we'll refund any unused portion you've paid for.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that state. If you use the service from outside Australia, you're responsible for complying with your local laws.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use Scam SafeGuard after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
